Arizona’s newest flight school expands fleet
with purchase of two Cessna trainers from Houston firm

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 17, 2021 – Leopard Aviation, the newest flight school in Arizona, today announced it has expanded its fleet of pilot-training aircraft to meet a growing demand by students of all ages who want a new and exciting way to experience the ultimate in flight training.

Leopard Aviation, with facilities in both Scottsdale and Mesa, recently purchased two instruction-friendly planes – Cessna Skyhawks 172S – from West Houston Airport Corporation in Houston, Texas. Delivery was delayed two weeks by the massive storm in the Lone Star State.

“We’re adding two new, state-of-the-art airplanes to meet the growing demand for pilots. We welcome students from 14 to 80 who have always had a dream to fly and experience the ultimate feeling of freedom, adventure and independence,” said Tom Noon, Leopard Aviation’s co-founder and CEO.

A Certified Flight Instructor and a student share a laugh during a flight lesson at Leopard Aviation. The company’s CEO Tom Noon believes that flying is fun, and learning to fly should be, also!

“What we offer, however, is something that many other flight schools do not provide,” he said. “Our unique, flexible approach to pilot training ensures that each student receives a dedicated instructor and the same aircraft throughout the process – to learn on their schedule.” Leopard Aviation students can earn several types of licenses, credentials and ratings, including:

  • Private Pilot License
  • Commercial Pilot License
  • Instrument Certification
  • Multi-engine Type Rating
  • Certified Flight Instructor
  • Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument

Noon added that the demand for flight training is coming from many drivers, including local students considering careers as airline or private pilots, older pilots who are maintaining their licenses, military veterans looking for new careers, students from cold weather climates, teenagers or parents seeking a new hobby, and curious consumers with disposable income who want to fulfill their “bucket list” wish.

Despite the pandemic, the U.S. is facing a pilot shortage, Noon said. In fact, the 2020 Boeing Pilot and Technician Outlook projects that 763,000 new civil aviation pilots will be needed to fly and maintain the global fleet over the next 20 years.

Plus, the demand for pilots is expected to rise dramatically in the coming years as a record number of new planes are being built and passenger demand bounces back as consumers receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We’re delighted to be training the next generation of pilots to meet the demand,” Noon said. He added that his customers have stated that the pandemic has been a motivating factor in their quest to learn to fly. “They tell us that after being cooped up in their homes and suffering from loneliness and isolation for so long, they like the idea of flying as the ultimate freedom.”

At Leopard Aviation, you will get to fly in a new 2020 Cessna 172S, with Garmin G1000 NXi Avionics, GFC700 Autopilot, TAWS (Terrain Awareness Warning System), Synthetic Vision, ADSB In/Out, and IFR Certified.  If your goal is to complete an Instrument Proficiency Check, give them a call, and their 2 Arizona Locations would be delighted to assist.  Leopard Aviation has locations in Scottsdale and Mesa.
